On Friday I flew to New York City to meet up with my Hip Lady for 5 days of book signing events and some good friend time. This is my first visit to the apple, since we packed the Penske and drove to Austin in December.
The first signing event was Saturday at The New Museum’s Festival of Idea’s (a street fest) on the Bowery. Kay also led fridge picking demonstrations through out the day. Inspiring many Manhattanites to go home and start pickling!
Saturday night we had an amazing dinner with our good friend Michael at A Bistro , an African (Senegalese) Restaurant in Ft. Greene, Brooklyn. I highly recommend this place. Two things to know, it’s B.Y.OB, which is a bonus, and you will probably have to wait. This is a tiny, chef owned spot. Well worth the wait!
Sunday, Kay was not only signing books at the Brooklyn Flea in Williamsburg, she gave 5 blogger teams (friends) $25 to spend at the Brooklyn Flea on home decor or home use items to spruce up their place. I took photos of their purchases, head over to Kay’s blog to see each team’s findings. The winner ( Team #3 (Faye) was determined via public vote.
The last HGGH book signing event was at Greenlight Bookstore in Ft. Greene. It was a hands-on craft making event- attendees made their own chore-hobby wheels.
I am so proud of my Hip Lady! She rocks, if you haven’t picked up your copy of The Hip Girl’s Guide to Homemaking you are missing out!
The last day in NYC/Brooklyn was picture perfect. A day full of friends!
On our last night we returned to Hancock Street, a delicious Indian feast at our old home with The Moogan’s, Kendra & the newest residents of 220, Bill & Rachel!
